Book Clubs: Reading, Connection and Friendship
The theme of community and connection continues in June with the focus on reading groups.
Book Clubs have long featured in the recreation and working lives of people from diverse backgrounds, interests, and connections.
They are quite individual and may operate with face-to-face gatherings, or online chats with members from local, national and/or international communities.
Books are sourced from local libraries or selected and purchased by members. ‘Rules’ vary, as can the frequency of meetings. However, all groups share a common interest in the love of literature and relevant discussion.
In this special presentation, members of several book clubs will share stories of how they formed; their rules of engagement and personal benefits.
The oldest book club represented has historical records which span sixty plus years. The ‘youngest’ book club is embryonic and fast becoming a vital meeting place for young professionals.
Please come along, enjoy the presentations and join in the discussion with the QVMAG Friends at the Museum at Inveresk.
