ArtStart is QVMAG’s long-standing exhibition program, inspiring children to explore and engage with the visual arts.

For over 20 years, ArtStart has welcomed young artists from Kindergarten to Grade 6 across Northern Tasmania, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity.

Held at the Art Gallery at Royal Park, the program encourages students to experiment with diverse techniques and artistic approaches, expanding their creative expression. Each exhibition is shaped by a thought-provoking theme, prompting deeper engagement with the artistic process and the presentation of their work.

Teachers are invited to submit student artworks for consideration, offering children the opportunity to share their artistic voices with the community.

At its core, ArtStart is an exhibition curated by young people, for young people, featuring artworks created by young people. This vision is central to the Terry and Nan Woodward ArtStart legacy, fostering creativity, confidence, and artistic exploration from an early age.
