Australian of the Year
This exhibition is now closed.

7 October – 28 November 2021
Each year our nation celebrates the achievement and contribution of eminent Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards by profiling leading citizens who are role models for us all. They inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a better Australia.
Each state and territory recipient is asked to choose an object of personal significance to share something special about their lives, aspirations and experiences. These objects, the recipients’ trophies and the story behind their remarkable achievements, provide the unique content of this exhibition. This year the exhibition features Tasmanian, Grace Tame, the 2021 Australian of the Year.
The 2021 Australian of the Year exhibition was developed by the National Museum of Australia in collaboration with the National Australia Day Council.
