Dr Di Nailon OAM

The monthly Our people, their stories: oral histories of Northern Tasmania talks presented by the QVMAG Friends reveal the personal stories of a diverse range of people who enrich the lives of our community.

I GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS with Dr Di Nailon OAM

Dr Di Nailon is a highly-respected early childhood educator. Since making Launceston her home in late 2009, Di has sought and found her tribes in this beautiful city and beyond.

Di's tribes include people of all ages and backgrounds dedicated to working with families to provide children with their best start in life. She also spends time playing with people who value expressive arts as a community enterprise.

Di models the life of a 'late bloomer'. She completed her PhD in 2023 in the later phases of her (continuing) very long academic career in Queensland and in Tasmania. She was awarded an Order of Australia in 2021 for her service to early childhood education on Not-for-Profit Boards, Committees, and professional organisations; and as a Consultant to a wide range of service types.

Di is currently Chair of B4 Early Years Coalition and serves on the Executive of Northern Early Years Group Tas Inc and Early arts project dedicated to helping people of all ages discover and rediscover their creativity. The project highlights the importance of creativity to personal well-being now and for future generations.
