Regular opening hours

 

Museum: Open 10am­ to 4pm daily with free entry.

Launceston Planetarium: Shows available Tuesday to Sunday, weekly. Closed on Mondays and public holidays. 

QVMAG Shop at Inveresk: Open 10am to 4pm daily. 

 

December 2024 opening hours

(including the Launceston Planetarium and the QVMAG Shop)

  • Monday 23 December 2024: 10am to 4pm

  • Tuesday 24 December 2024: 10am to 4pm

  • Wednesday 25 December 2024: Closed

  • Thursday 26 December to Tuesday 31 December 2024: regular hours resume, 10am to 4pm

 

January 2025 opening hours

(including the QVMAG Shop)

  • Enjoy extended opening hours from 10am to 5pm throughout January 2025

 

January 2025 opening hours: Launceston Planetarium

Open daily with up to three screenings per day.

The Planetarium will be closed on the following public holiday dates: 

  • Wednesday 1 January 2025

  • Monday 27 January 2025
 

Art Gallery at Royal Park

Art Gallery: Open 10am to 4pm daily with free entry. 

QVMAG Shop at Royal Park: Open 10am to 4pm daily.

QVMAG History Centre 

QVMAG's History Centre is an important resource for researchers, providing access to the Museum's extensive archives. 

Location  The QVMAG History Centre is located at the Museum at Inveresk (2 Invermay Road, Launceston).
Opening times    

 

      
  • Wednesday and Thursday, weekly (4 appointments per day)
  • 2 visitors from 10am–12pm
  • 2 visitors from 2pm–4pm

The History Centre will be closed on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 25 December 2024
  • Thursday 26 December 2024
  • Wednesdsay 1 January 2025
Bookings

 
  • Bookings are taken on Monday for visits on Wednesday
  • Bookings are taken on Tuesday for visits on Thursday

The History Centre is not open for drop-in visitors. Please book by emailing your file requests and preferred session time and date to enquiries@qvmag.tas.gov.au
