More free family fun is on offer at QVMAG over summer with the latest travelling exhibition from Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre - set to spark interest.
ZAP! Electric Science promises hands-on fun and discovery for the entire family, providing unique opportunities to engage with science in an interactive and interesting way.
Visitors of all ages exploring the family favourite STEAM Gallery at the Museum at Inveresk will power their way through a series of interactive challenges and puzzles to see how electricity is made and the incredible things it can do.
Create an electric current with your own hands, control ‘ferrofluid’ liquid using an electromagnet and power a house by spinning a generator by hand.
This immersive exhibition explores the fascinating world of electricity, from how it’s generated to its everyday applications in our daily lives.
City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said ZAP! Electric Science is guaranteed fun for families across Tasmania.
“It's colourful, exciting and a great way for people of all ages to learn about the science of electricity through hands-on learning,” Mayor Garwood said.
“Don’t miss this electrifying experience at QVMAG. I encourage everyone to make the most of this free exhibition while it's on display at the Museum at Inveresk."
ZAP! Electric Science marks Questacon’s ninth visit to QVMAG and continues a longstanding partnership that dates back to 1998. ZAP! Electric Science has never ventured beyond the walls of Questacon’s Canberra facility until now – so Launceston audiences are seeing it first.
As an added bonus, Questacon’s Science on the Move is also on display in the STEAM Gallery.
Open every day until 4pm – and until 5pm in January – these two exciting exhibitions promise fun and discovery for the entire family.
ZAP! Electric Science is now showing at the Museum at Inveresk (2 Invermay Road, Launceston) until 10 March 2025 with free entry.
Issued 9 January 2025.
