Since launching in December 2023, over 1,200 visitors have flocked to the Launceston Planetarium to watch the Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon full dome musical experience at the Queen Victoria at Museum at Inveresk.
With a run time of 45 minutes, the show takes viewers on an out-of-this-world visual experience set to the iconic Pink Floyd soundtrack.
On display in Tasmania exclusively at QVMAG as part of the shows global launch, visitors are encouraged to ‘get in quick’ to not miss grabbing a ticket to this weekly sold-out show.
Since launching, the Launceston Planetarium has responded to the shows booming popularity through the release of additional weekly screenings to cater for its ongoing demand.
City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said the show offered an experience like no other.
“When we first launched this new Planetarium experience, we knew it was going to be popular—but, we perhaps didn't grasp the gravity of what a success this would be for Launceston,” Mayor Garwood said.
“This experience not only offers a new way to experience an iconic Pink Floyd album, but it’s offering a new interactive program for music lovers of all ages.
“Locals and visitors of Launceston have loved the Launceston Planetarium since it first opening in 1968—and it’s amazing to see that love still staying strong as it continues to deliver new and creative programs for its audiences within the popular Museum at Inveresk.”

Creative Arts and Cultural Services General Manager Shane Fitzgerald said the show has been an absolute hit for both locals and those touring Tasmania.
“The feedback we’ve received to date about this Pink Floyd experience in our Planetarium has been outstanding,” Fitzgerald said.
“To welcome this experience to Tasmania, exclusively in Launceston at QVMAG, is a win for the entire State. Only a select range of locations globally are screening this experience for a limited window of time, and as it continues to sell out in larger metro areas such as Melbourne, we believe that we will absolutely be seeing visitors travelling to Launceston for the weekend to snap up tickets.”
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon is now showing at the Launceston Planetarium with multiple weekly screenings on offer with visitors encouraged to ‘be quick’ while shows continue to sell out weeks in advance.
