ArtRage set to showcase top Tassie student talent
This weekend a selection of top student talent will be unveiled at the Queen Victoria Art Gallery at Royal Park as part of ArtRage 2023.
Now in its 29th year, ArtRage continues to provide an important annual platform for students in years 11 and 12 studying art as part of their Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE), while supporting and celebrating the creativity and talent of budding artists state-wide.
Known for its statewide reputation of fostering the artistic growth of students, ArtRage will be on display at the Art Gallery at Royal Park from 16 December 2023 to 2 April 2024, before touring statewide.
City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said it was always fantastic to see such a wonderful range of talent from students across Tasmania on display within ArtRage.
“ArtRage is such an important role in the journey of emerging Tasmanian artists while completing years 11 and 12,” Mayor Garwood said.
“The fact that this exhibition is celebrating it’s 29th year in 2023 is a testament to the invaluable platform this exhibition has created for our student's studying art across our island.
“Each year this exhibition attracts visitation from both locals and those exploring our great State, and I encourage everyone to make the most of this exhibition while it’s on display in Launceston, prior to starting its exhibition tour to the Northwest Coast and Hobart.”
Creative Arts and Cultural Services Manager Shane Fitzgerald said ArtRage 2023 is a showcase of the incredible talent emerging here in Tasmania.
“Our institution is focused on supporting arts education through all ages. Whether it be our primary art exhibition ArtStart, our secondary art exhibition ArtRage, our emerging artist biennial showcase RISE, or solo artist exhibition displays—it's great to know that QVMAG has a touchpoint at every stage of someone's journey,” Fitzgerald said.
“ArtRage 2023 is a unique opportunity for students to share their art to audiences state-wide, with many students featured since showcasing their practice in exhibitions and solo showcases here at QVMAG, which is a brilliant outcome.”
ArtRage is on display at the Art Gallery at Royal Park (2 Wellington Street, Launceston) from 16 December 2023 to 2 April 2024 with free entry.
